Speakers

  • Laura Lavender, Director of Inclusion at Heart of Yorkshire College - Laura started her career as a School Liaison Officer but soon discovered her passion for teaching. Over the last 15 years, she has held various teaching and leadership roles in the Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) sector, working to expand post-16 options for young people with SEND in Yorkshire. Laura has worked in Further Education as a SEND Specialist Lecturer in the University of Huddersfield’s PGCE program and as a Governor at Wakefield Virtual School. She believes that with ambitious curriculum design and clear progression pathways, every student can transition into a happy, safe, and productive adult life.
  • Sophie Moore, Learning Support Team Leader, Support Connect - With over 18 years of experience supporting individuals with learning disabilities, Autism, ADHD, and other barriers, Sophie has dedicated her career to advocating for and empowering people with disabilities. Passionate about ensuring equal opportunities in study and work, she explores innovative approaches like AI and immersive learning to support the neurodiverse community. Her qualifications in Education and Training, along with certifications from the National Autistic Society, enable her to provide learner-centred support tailored to individual styles. Sophie’s work with Local Authorities to provide reasonable adjustments has greatly supported students' educational and employment goals. With a strong focus on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, Sophie creates empowering environments that offer equal opportunities and the necessary tools for success.
  • Hannah Ward, Digital Instructor at Lincoln University - Hannah is a champion in applying technology to improve training and learner development. Throughout her career, she has played a significant role in integrating the latest innovations into the curriculum, with a particular emphasis on developing inclusive and adaptive assessments. Her initiatives ensure that young people possess the skills and confidence necessary for success in an increasingly digital world.
  • Jason Holt CBE, CEO, Metaverse Learning - Jason is an educator and a pioneer in the future of work. He is a leader in apprenticeships, having founded the first apprenticeship school for jewellers and played a pivotal role in apprenticeship reforms. More recently, he co-founded the Association of Apprenticeships. Now working in Ed Tech, Jason is building the Metaverse Learning and Hub on its radical mission to bring VR/AR and simulated hands-on training, assessment, and virtual work placements to learners everywhere.
