Dumfries and Galloway College wins Jisc-sponsored award for digital learning
The innovative Digiplan project triumphed at the 2024 College Development Network (CDN) Awards.
Dumfries and Galloway College has beaten competition from fellow finalists Edinburgh College and Fife College to win the Jisc-sponsored award for digital learning at this year’s CDN Awards.
The college’s Digiplan project, developed in collaboration with local employers to help work-based learners upskill and access personal and professional development at any given time or place, was chosen by the judges for its use of digital innovation to tackle some of the biggest challenges faced by learners in rural areas.
Through access to their own personalised Digiplan users receive one-to-one support and tailored digital assessment plans, allowing for flexible, location-independent learning.
With its focus on sustainability, flexibility and inclusion, Digiplan has seen strong uptake across the region, with employers from areas such as local council, healthcare and even international firms embracing the tool.
Jason Miles Campbell, director for Jisc in Scotland said:
"Congratulations to Dumfries and Galloway College for a well-earned win for their Digiplan project.
Judges put Digiplan ahead of an impressive pack for its effectiveness in tackling the challenge of supporting work-based learners, and their employers, at a distance.
The approach highlights effective use of digital and external partner engagement, and innovation in planning, delivering and assessing student development.
A further well done to finalists Edinburgh College and Fife College who just missed out on the top spot.”
Jisc has been a proud sponsor of the CDN awards since 2016, helping to recognise talent, innovation, and digital skill across the Scottish college sector.
