About the community
As the professional association for teachers of ESOL and community languages throughout the UK, NATECLA’s members are rewarded with a range of opportunities to acquire and share information, expertise and good practice about the sector with like-minded ESOL professionals.
What you can expect
When you join NATECLA you become part of the community of ESOL and community language teachers in the UK. You will be assigned to a branch where there is one operating.
We encourage all members to be part of their local branch committee, to help inform and shape the future of the organisation. The branches also organise training events and workshops several times a year.
Who should join?
This community is open to ESOL practitioners, teachers or an institution that delivers ESOL in the UK.
NATECLA attracts membership from:
- Institutions such as further education colleges, adult education centres and community centres that provide ESOL programmes and private language schools that deliver EFL courses
- Voluntary sector organisations - those who employ three or less full-time staff members or equivalent can join as institutions at a reduced rate
- Individual members who work in colleges, adult education centres and in the community, as teachers, managers, examiners and assessors, inspectors and teacher trainers
- Volunteers or retired teachers who work with English language learners and wish to take advantage of membership benefits at a lower cost
- Trainee teachers who wish to take advantage of FREE membership for one year. You must be working towards a CELTA, a Trinity CertTESOL, a PGCE, a Masters in TESOL or ELT or an additional relevant qualification
