Fleur Grigg (Coleg Powys)
Fleur has worked at Coleg Powys in Newtown for eleven years - her responsibilities have changed somewhat over the eleven years progressing from a Learner Support Assistant to Course Tutor for Adults with Learner Differences. She is currently in the last and final year of a BA Hons in Post Compulsory Education and this project is forming part of her dissertation.
The Vocational Skills group at Coleg Powys caters for a range of post 16 learners who have severe and profound learning difficulties.
This project set out to discover specific communication strategies and ways of improving social skills whilst learners are in College with the use of augmentative alternative communication technology. The aim is to improve inclusiveness in the classroom and open opportunities for learners to develop the skills needed to be part of a fast moving technological world.
