City and County of Swansea (Kay Timpson)

Kay is a co-ordinator on the Family Learning and Essential Skills Programme in Swansea . She delivers and develops Family Learning courses with numerous partner organisations and across the age ranges and have worked in Essential Skills for the Lifelong Learning Service for the past 20 years.

The Swansea Lifelong Learning project set out to enable individuals functioning at these low levels of literacy to fulfil their potential and contribute in a meaningful way to society. With the exploration of new approaches and methods it may be possible to kick start achievement and address the needs of this isolated and voiceless section of society.
