Moodle - Adding Basic Content and Setting up CoursesAdding content to Moodle is easier than you think!
Below you can access instruction booklets to help you upload content to your Moodle site.
Moodle can do a wide variety of things to assist learning, but most people start by uploading basic content such as handouts, powerpoints or links to useful websites. Even if after your training session, if you can only remember how to add links to websites, then that is a start, and already you could have useful reference points and content for your students.
In this session you will learn how to:
- Add headings and labels to organise and layout your course
- Add links to websites
- Upload documents to your Moodle site
You will also be given a personal 'test' course to be able to practice what you have learned in the session and build up your confidence before you go LIVE
If you begin to build your test course and decide you want it to become your actual Moodle site - we can very easily transfer the course to the appropriate departmental category, without you having to do any more work

Using Collaborative Learning Tools in Moodle- Forums
A Forum is a discussion tools that allows users to engage in online discussions either in real time, perhaps in a study centre or over a period of time.
Forums activities can contribute significantly to successful communication and community building in an online environment. You can use forums for many innovative purposes in educational settings.
Moodle allows you to create different kinds of Forums. Below are some examples of Moodle Forums.
- Glossaries
Another useful collaborative learning tool in Moodle is the Glossary. Think of the Glossary as a collaborative research tool. A tutor can set up a glossary on any topic and ask students to add entries into it. This works really well as a study centre activity.
- Wikis
- A wiki is a tool that allows groups of people to work collectively on a document.
