Lunchtime Bytes ... delivered to your desk

JISC RSC Wales interactive, online information sessions

JISC RSC Wales is currently looking for new ways to reach more people, whilst saving travel costs, by using online conferencing technology. The aim of our online 'lunchtime bytes' is to deliver bite sized chunks of information in real time to you at your desk, in an interactive way.

Learner Engagement

We no longer publicise and advertise our services by ‘barking’ about them. We aim at long-term engagement, encouraging loyalty and advocacy through social networking and other interactive communication tools.

This session looks at the Customer Engagement Model as a tool for encouraging more learners to use our services.

The aims of the session are -

To explore the Customer Engagement model

To look at how far the Customer Engagement model can be used for Learner Engagement

Taming Twitter

Connect and Participate

Explores a range of free and paid for synchronous web conferencing solutions and offers some practical advice in their use.

E-Safety - Bee Safe

E-safety:What do you need to consider and why?

Cyber Bullying, Harassment, Defamation, Hosting Liability, Data Protection, Statutory Requirements, Legal Obligations, Inspection.

This Lunchtime Byte looks at resources developed to help protect you and your learners. It:

• Considers your organisation’s obligations towards 'E-Safety'
• Considers ways of keeping young people safe online
• Introduces e-safety resources and a new e-safety toolkit

Making Connections - RSS and Yahoo Pipes

This session is going to focus on 'Managing Information', Are you feeling bombarded? There are now so many channels providing you with information that it is sometimes hard to keep up.The aims of this session are:

To provide a brief introduction to Elluminate.
To explore ways of managing your desktop to enable you to take control of the information you receive and to make new professional connections.

Technologies discussed will include RSS feeds, Google Reader and Yahoo pipes.

Reaching out - using social media

This session focuses on 'Social Media', whilst also giving those of you who are new to online conferencing technology the opportunity to explore and use some of the key features.The aims of this session are:

To provide a brief introduction to Elluminate.
To explore how Social Media could help to widen your network of professional contacts and promote your organisation

Technologies discussed will include Twitter and social networking sites.

Google Docs

This session focuses primarily on 'Google Docs', whilst also giving those who are new to online conferencing technology the opportunity to explore and use some of the key features. The aims of the session are:

To provide a brief introduction to Elluminate, one of many web conferencing tools.
To give a brief introduction to Google Docs an essential tool that supports collaboration and partnership working.

MyStudyBar (and a brief introduction to Elluminate, a web conferencing tool)

The first of our online sessions focuses on 'My Study Bar', whilst also giving attendees who are new to online conferencing technology the opportunity to explore and use some of the key features. The aims of this session are:

To provide a brief introduction to Elluminate, one of many web conferencing tools.
To give a brief introduction to My Study Bar a handy tool for supporting learners (and staff). "MyStudyBar is a tool which helps overcome problems that students commonly experience with studying, reading and writing. The tool consists of a set of portable open source and freeware applications, assembled into one convenient package." JISC RSC Scotland North and East.
