Welcome to the Using Audio and Video course. You will be exploring how to use audio and video to enhance teaching and learning.
The course is aimed at teachers/trainers who have little or no experience of using audio and video in their teaching practice. However, the course provides lots of ideas and examples that may be of interest to the more experienced practitioner.
In this module discover two easy ways to input audio recordings whilst at your computer. We'll look at how to embed a sound clip in Microsoft© Powerpoint® and to use an open source program called Audacity®.
Consider ways in which this could support your teaching practice whether to create audio based resources or to capture a group discussion.

In this section we will be exploring ways of capturing audio from mobile devices. We will then explore different software tools that allow you to host and share the audio recordings. We'll consider why the use of mobile technologies to capture audio can be a real advantage in some teaching and learning situations.

In this section we will be exploring ways of converting text into audio. We will look at software tools that enable you to convert text to speech, text to audio book and text to audio file. We'll consider why being able to do this for some of our learners is essential and for many desirable.
By exploring these tools you'll discover some of their other functions which could support the development of literacy and language skills.

This module will explore how the use of video can enhance teaching and learning. It outlines some of the many benefits and advantages to using video media and provides you with examples and ideas of how it has been used to stimulate your own thought processes.

Many video digital cameras come with their own editing software packages which could be used to incorporate images into a movie. We are using these Microsoft options as they are easy to use and free to download.
This learning object looks at how mobile technologies can be used to view, record and upload videos. We'll consider when we can use mobile video technologies and explore the different software tools that allow you to share video recordings.
