Welcome to our online Social Networking Moodle Course
The purpose of this course is to give you some information and tips about Social Networking. It will give you an opportunity to then reflect upon your current use of Social Networking sites and activities to decide whether you need to make any changes.
Please work though the various activities and, when you have finished, fill in the feedback activity to complete the course. :-D
Let's start by watching a very short video. The video is not in English, but is subtitled. You do not need headphones to enjoy this video but, if you do have them, the music is quite appropriate!
So think about what you have just seen. What do you think I could find out about you?I could go to Google and search for your name and see what comes up. If you have an unusual name it is easier for me to find out what you have been up to.
If you have not already "googled yourself" try doing it now. :-D
Does this matter? Look at the following link and particularly the infographic (big poster) and the detail in it. Use the zoom facility at the bottom of the window to do this.
Here is some more information and advice:
Here are two links to some tips and advice about the use of the Internet and Social Networking particularly aimed at students. There is definitely some useful information in there that you should be aware of and consider.
Hopefully, from what you have just read, you can see that as well as the negatives, there are also many positives that can be gained by use of Social Networking.
Now you have looked through all the information, reflect upon what you have learnt. Discuss with others if you taking this course along with other students and then complete the feedback questionnaire to complete the course. You will need to have gone through the resources to be able to complete the feedback properly and you only have one opportunity to complete the feedback.
